Do This and You’ll be Welcome Anywhere

Continuing with the reading of How to win friends and influence people by Dale Carnegie this week moved to part two of the book which presents Six Ways to Make People Like You and it begins with the following: “You can make more friends in two months by becoming interested in other people than you can in two years by trying to get other people interested in you.”

Dale quotes Alfred Adler a famous Viennese psychologist who said “It is the individual who is not interested in his fellow men who has the greatest difficulties in life and provides the greatest injury to others. It is from among such individuals that all human failures spring.”

With genuine interest you will basically be welcome anywhere because there is nothing more hedious than fake interest.

Dale also mentions that if we want to make friends, let’s put ourselves out to do things for other people - things that require time, energy, unselfishness and thoughtfulness.

Think about it. How many things have you recently, genuinly done for others?

Let me know your thoughts!

Vocabulary, Phrases and Tools

Esta semana te quiero compartir 2 idioms

"That's the ticket" - That's exactly what's needed.

"My two cents" - Offering one's opinion or perspective.

The exercise consists of the following, I’ll give you a paragraph in spanish and you have to think 3 ways to say the paragraph in english.

I would love to read your 3 options so, hit reply and ill be more than happy to give em a read.

  • The project team is working hard to meet the deadlines set for the project and make sure that all team members are on the same page.

  • The project crew is putting in a lot of effort to stick to the project deadlines and ensure that everyone is on the same wavelength.

  • The project squad is grinding to meet the project's set deadlines and ensure everyone is on the same page.

Week’s Content

Recommendations

This week’s recommendations are:

To watch:

This week I want to recommend an activity that can help you increase your hearing acuteness which basically will help your brain process the listening in English.

The activity is just to force yourself to watch any video you like, in english of course, but at a playback speed of at least x1.25, at the beginning you may struggle to actually understand but, trust me, the more you practice it the better you will get at listening.
