So, this is one of the main questions of a session’s topic in which the purpose is to ponder _{(reflexionar)} about the dimension, impact and reference of what we think, say and do.

Today, more than ever, we all feel with the right of sharing “in my opinion” without even questioning where does that opinion come from.

When we talk about dimension when communicating is about having the perspective of not a single route to everything but rather a netwrork of routes, inputs, perspectives and outputs.

When we talk about impact when communicating is about understanding that words DO have a power and the combo of WHAT and HOW you say is a double edge sword that can either propel or inhibit your progress.

When we talk about reference when communicating is about questioning ourselves, our ideas, our thoughts. Not just regurgitating content we´ve consumed.

Vocabulary and Phrases

Some of the vocabulary and phrases we reviewed were:

• Stance - Similar to position, angle, point of view or perspective.
  “His firm stance on social justice earned him widespread admiration”
  

• In a nutshell - To summarize something you said.
  "After hours of discussion and debate, the committee reached a decision: in a nutshell, they agreed to allocate more funds to the education sector."

An interesting topic that came out this week was that apparently there is a new english dialect emerging in south florida. This has to do with generations of latin american people living and using certain expressions which are not common on the regular english. Here is a couple of those expressions:

• “They got down from the car and went inside the house.”

• “I made the line to pay for groceries.”

• “He is married with Jane”

• “I want some meat tacos”

Idiom:

Have a ripple effect - single action or event can create a series of consequences or impacts.

"The decision to close down the factory will have a ripple effect on the local economy and the families that depend on it for their livelihood."

Communication Tool

If you want a practice to improve your pronunciation and your speech in general, try the following:

Read anything you are interested in and do the following:

• Read aloud as if you were reading in waves.

• Read at a normal slow pace.

• Make a pause after every punctuation mark.

Constantly trying this exercise will make your brain understand the proper reading pace which translates into your speech and by doing it aloud you exercise the mouth muscles that in the long run will improve your pronunciation.
